A Picture is Worth 5,018 Words. Pictionary Creator Rob Angel Shares his Inspirational Story of Grit and determination
042 - Rob Angel
In 1982, following his graduation from Western Washington University with a degree in Business Administration and while waiting tables Rob Angel turned a simple idea into the best selling board game in the world, Pictionary. It’s not just a game, it’s a positive emotional experience. Rob wanted to share that feeling with the world. He had no plan or dream. He also didn’t overthink it. He started by putting together the first 1000 games together by hand in his tiny apartment. Pictionary became the biggest selling game in the world, spanning 60 countries and selling 38 million games until Rob sold it to Mattel in 2001.
Today Rob enjoys speaking to entrepreneurs, college students, and businesses, sharing the many lessons he learned in business and in life. Rob loves to say, “If you have an idea, control it, hold on to it, and protect it.” Through his message of being open to grabbing all that life puts in front of you, anyone, he says, can find their passion, their dream, and have a most successful life.
Rob Angel is the author of the book, GAME CHANGER, THE STORY OF PICTIONARY AND HOW I TURNED A SIMPLE IDEA INTO THE BESTSELLING BOARD GAME IN THE WORLD
